Learn with S/O Dance

As S/O Dance enters a new chapter, our approach to training and community engagement is evolving.
Rather than offering ongoing weekly classes, we will be hosting a variety of pop-up workshops, movement experiences, creative intensives, and special training opportunities throughout the year. These programs are designed to bring artists and community members together for meaningful movement exploration, creative collaboration, and contemporary dance practice.
Whether you're a professional dancer, emerging artist, or curious mover, we invite you to join us when opportunities arise.
Move & Make: Contemporary Dance Workshop
July 22–24, 2026
9:30am-12:30pm
UNC - Asheville Sherrill Center
Join Artistic Directors Gavin Stewart and Vanessa Owen for a three-day open level adult contemporary dance workshop.
Each day will begin with S/O Dance's signature contemporary technique class, followed by collaborative choreographic creation sessions where participants will build movement material together, explore creative process, and engage in collective dance-making.
The workshop will culminate in an informal open rehearsal and sharing on the final day. Family, friends, and community members are welcome to attend and witness the work created throughout the workshop.
Experience Level: Basic knowledge of dance forms is encouraged, and options are provided throughout the workshop to both challenge and meet the needs of a variety of experience levels.
Please Note: Participants must be 18+ and commit to all 3 days in order to take part in the workshop.
